Pemerintah – melalui Departemen Komunikasi dan Informasi – mengeluarkan surat edaran (SE) yang isinya akan melakukan penertiban a.k.a penutupan terhadap sejumlah TV lokal yang tidak mempunyai ijin. Bahkan, Menteri Komunikasi dan Informasi, M. Nuh mengancam akan “memejahijaukan” televisi lokal yang tidak memiliki ijin siaran. Sekilas, Surat Edaran dan ancaman tersebut terlihat sebagai konsekuensi wajar atas penegakan hukum di bidang penyiaran. Namun, jika kita menyimak dengan seksama tentang apa yang terjadi pada dunia penyiaran kita 5 tahun terakhir ini, utamanya trilogi kepentingan KPI-Depkominfo-TV nasional, bisa diduga kl kebijakan tersebut adalah sebuah skenario penggagalan Siaran Sistem Berjariangan (SSB) yang sedianya dilakukan Desember 2009.   (more…)

Alexander Graham Bell (March 3, 1847, Edinburgh, Scotland – August 2, 1922, Baddek, Nova Scotia) invented the telephone (with Thomas Watson) in 1876. Bell also improved Thomas Edison’s phonograph. Bell invented the multiple telegraph (1875), the hydroairplane, the photo-sensitive selenium cell (the photophone, a wireless phone, developed with Sumner Tainter), and new techniques for teaching the deaf to speak. In 1882, Bell and his father-in-law, Gardiner Hubbard, bought and re-organized the journal “Science.” Bell, Hubbard and others founded the National Geographic Society in 1888; Bell was the President of the National Geographic Society from 1898 to 1903.

The BlackBerry is a wireless handheld device introduced in 1999 which supports push e-mail, mobile telephone, text messaging, internet faxing, web browsing and other wireless information services. Developed by the Canadian company Research In Motion (RIM), it delivers information over the wireless data networks of mobile phone service companies. BlackBerry first made headway in the marketplace by concentrating on e-mail. RIM currently offers BlackBerry e-mail service to non-BlackBerry devices, such as the Palm Treo, through the BlackBerry Connect software. The original BlackBerry device had a monochrome display, but all current models have color displays. (more…)
